Very enjoyable and addictive。 I think writing has room for improvement。 I did get annoyed in the end that there is no loyalty to feelings, the main character would kiss anyone who is next to her。

With that writing talent I am surprised that she was not picked up sooner or has five novels behind her。 This girl is seriously talented at writing; flames, story and all。 You will get lost from the very first sentence until you realise your eyes have passed the very last page。The story itself is dark and not for the faint of heart。 You follow the main character Lilly on her journey from the trauma of her past to the pain that she endures because of it and through the world of the book。 As I have mentioned before in a past review; it is so lovely in a way to read of a character with possible complex PTSD that is relatable, human, and has her faults but there are reasons for this that are out of her own control mentally but fights。 Like smoke drifting into your brain fogging up the emotions that you want to feel。 This book was beautifully written and is tells the story in such a simple way to understand yet sticks in my mind like complex nightmares and dreams。 Not only this but the amount of quotes I found in this book that I need written on my wall, on bookmarks, or just somewhere that I will look at with heart reaching emotions is stunning。What more can I say than Kat has created something that burns as long as the eternal flames of hell, and her writing has bloomed like a fresh bloody rose in a Spring night。 I cannot wait to read the sequel and every book she writes thereafter。 I know that I will be there for every dark and deadly step cheering her on and always reminding her how amazing and talented she truly is。PS this book really need a special edition and hardback, just saying but I need it like now and I am well ready to create one if there is not going to be one! 。。。more

Now I want the sequel。 。。。more

the side of the city Lilly lives in is destroyed husks of its former glory。 The imagery alone creates such a fantastic viewpoint in the reader's mind of this gloomy, seemingly cultish lifestyle, and whilst it was very jarring for me to read, I thoroughly enjoyed the world-building in this novel。 The magic system of the Saints is so intriguing, and watching both the main character and others surrounding Lilly navigate ideals of freedom, power, and greed was really rewarding。 I enjoyed that the main characters all were morally grey - there was a story behind their actions and a desire to be something other than they were。 The separation of the two clans in the city was interesting, especially down to the exuberant wealth of the Paradisos and the slums of the Marconi side。 The contrast was chilling and confusing for someone not living there。 Whilst the history of the city was well shared, it seemed unfathomable at times that people could be living on the Marconi side without breaking the treaty。 The culmination of the events of this book led to a solid cliffhanger, and I'm intrigued to know what happens next。 Things I didn't quite enjoyWith all the good, unfortunately, I did struggle a lot with the character build-up in this novel, along with the storyline progression。 I felt both areas lacked adequate detail, and there were too many plot holes for me to overlook。 I find this such a shame because the concept of this world is chillingly fantastic, and I was consumed with reading on to find out more。 Oftentimes, the reader was left to just accept that the connections between characters (especially Liza and Lilly) were developing well without enough evidence to support it。 The author made Lilly attracted to three people, which given my detest for love triangles (or in this case, it's a bit more than that), I struggled with because they weren't all developed enough to be believable。 I really enjoyed the connection between Christian and Lilly most and felt thrown off kilter by Liza even if all three were instantly alluring to our FMC from the start。 I found Lilly quite unlikeable at times。 The jarring nature of her referring to her parents by their first names, her temper being so sudden and overly dramatic at times, and her recklessness didn't paint a solid character for me at times - though I did come to appreciate her further in the read。 The other issue I had was how much time jumped without being set up well。 I would have preferred more time spent building the earlier weeks in Castello so these connections with the love interests and other important figures in the novel made more sense。 Relationships with some characters, such as her Dad, felt very thrown in at times and not explored enough, and whilst some of this complemented the dystopian vibe of the novel, I found it hard to understand character actions because of how many time jumps there were in the first half。Final thoughtsAs I mentioned, it's hard to come away from this with solid thoughts about the experience。 I would highly recommend that someone fix the top part of the GoodReads introduction to this world, as all three novels mentioned are vampire readings, and I assumed I would be reading a book about vampires, not witches。 I again, with the title of the book and the Italian setting made some errors in my assumption of this read and thus feel a little frustrated。 On one hand, if the synopsis had painted more of what this book was about, I probably wouldn't have requested a copy, thus adding a lower rating than it deserves。 At the same time, I'm genuinely glad that despite being led astray that I got to read this。 It was a decent debut, and I will pick up the next book in the series when it is released。 。。。more

This was such a hard one to review because whilst there is nothing wrong with this story or the writing, I just couldn’t connect enough to give it a higher rating。 Unfortunately neither the characters or the story pulled me in as much as I would have hoped。 Perhaps it’s just me though so take this review with a grain of salt。 On a positive note With Fire in their Blood is incredibly original with gorgeous imagery。 Queer rep blends in seamlessly。 Thank you to the publisher for providing me with a This was such a hard one to review because whilst there is nothing wrong with this story or the writing, I just couldn’t connect enough to give it a higher rating。 Unfortunately neither the characters or the story pulled me in as much as I would have hoped。 Perhaps it’s just me though so take this review with a grain of salt。 On a positive note With Fire in their Blood is incredibly original with gorgeous imagery。 Queer rep blends in seamlessly。 Thank you to the publisher for providing me with a free copy of this book to read and review in advance。 。。。more

I thought the writing was fantastic, engaging, and the characters compelling, but something about the plot fell a little flat for me and I can't quite put my finger on it。 Nonetheless I still enjoyed this book and read it in less than a day, and I will certainly pick up the sequel when it comes out! With Fire In Their BloodSci-Fi & FantasyK。A。 Tucker ⭐️⭐️⭐️This book was good but it wasn't quite enough to make me say it's a great book。 The plot and premise itself are really interesting and kept me curious。The FMC though did become a little annoying for me, she was very indecisive and very trusting (almost gullible)。There were a few plot twists but I did find some of them to be predictable。 The love interests kind of flip flop between different characters and it becomes slightly cliché, that With Fire In Their BloodSci-Fi & FantasyK。A。 Tucker ⭐️⭐️⭐️This book was good but it wasn't quite enough to make me say it's a great book。 The plot and premise itself are really interesting and kept me curious。The FMC though did become a little annoying for me, she was very indecisive and very trusting (almost gullible)。There were a few plot twists but I did find some of them to be predictable。 The love interests kind of flip flop between different characters and it becomes slightly cliché, that being said there was a lot of LGBTQA+ representation。The ending wasn't very satisfying for me so I'm not sure if I'd need the next book or not。 。。。more

(Arc)This has been an anticipated read and my goodness, was I right。 I loved this book。 It was definitely a 'Michaela Book' and I will make this my personality and own as many copies as I physically can without my loved ones being worried。 The plot? amazing。 The conflicts? Astounding。 The Love interests? I had no clue whether to root for the sassy but kinda red flag girl, the brooding man or the really invested man。 (Arc)This has been an anticipated read and my goodness, was I right。 I loved this book。 It was definitely a 'Michaela Book' and I will make this my personality and own as many copies as I physically can without my loved ones being worried。 The plot? amazing。 The conflicts? 4 Stars This book was really good! It’s a dark, gothic dystopian fantasy, that once you start you can’t seem to put down。 The book was filled with so many plot twist which I really didn’t expect but definitely enjoyed。 The world building was fantastic although sometimes it did seem to get a little complicated which I’m hoping to gain answers to in the following books。 There was so many well written characters which I loved。 I felt that they each had a set of there own problems which we learnt ab 4 Stars This book was really good!
